September's Calendar

I have been replaced as the Cub Scout Committee Chair by Krissy Shields.  We are now waiting for the Wolf Den Leaders Replacement.  Krissy and Wendy will carry on until we get their new replacements.  I am hoping that Krissy will keep up the Pack Blog, so let her know if you appreciate it.

Cub Scout Leader Round Table, Thur. Sept 13th at 7:00 PM at the Stake Center.

Pack Meeting will be Weds. Sept. 19th at 7:00PM at the the Church. The theme is Take a Bite Out of Crime  This will be our Parents meeting.

This month if a Cub Scout shows up at Pack Meeting with at least one Parent, he will be able to pick out a prize from a prize bag.  The Den and Pack leaders are preparing a presentation to help you know what to expect from Cub Scouts this year.  Please attend and support your Cub.

Well it has been a great 3 years in Cub Scouts and I look forward to the new challenges in my new situation.  Keep up the good work and KISMIF (Keep it simple, make it fun!)

Happy August!

Happy August!

FYI: I have received a new calling in the Ward so sometime in this next month I will be replaced as the Cub Scout Pack Committee Chairman. I will let you know who it is as soon as I know. We also need to say Goodbye to Wendy Knight, who was called to be a Counselor in the Primary Presidency, to replace Lori McGraw. I am pretty sure she will be over the Cub Scout, though. So we will let you know as soon as we do who Wendy's replacement is.

Both Lori McGraw, Wendy Knight and I will be in attendance at this months Pack Meeting.

Cub Scout Leader Round Table, Thur. Aug 9th at 7:00 PM at the Stake Center.

Pack Meeting will be Weds. Aug. 15th at 6:30 PM at the pavilion behind the Church. The theme is H2Ohhhh!. We will be holding our end of summer BBQ and water sports. Please bring a towel for each child and plan on them getting wet!

We will be having hamburgers and each den will bring an assigned part of the meal.
The Pack will provide: Hamburgers, buns, condiments, drinks and paper goods.
Each Webelo will bring cupcakes (2 dozen).
Each Wolf will bring a large bag of chips of their choice.
Each Bear will bring a large salad of their choice.

I am looking forward to seeing you at Pack Meeting.

July 2012 Calendar

Welcome to the Month of July

Cub Scout Leader Round Table, Thurs. July 12th, 7:00 PM at our Stake Center.

Pack Meeting, Wed. July 18, 7:00 PM at the Cub Master Devey's back yard (680 N 400 E).  We will be having a flag retiring ceremony.  There is limited seating so if you don't want to sit on the grass, please bring your own lawn chair.

We have the date for Cub Scout Day Camp.

Every boy and leader is required to have a Scout physical form A & B filled out and taken to camp with them. If you haven't filled out this form and gotten it to me or to your boys Den Leader, he will not be allowed to go to Camp. No physical is required, just the form filled out.

To find out more about Day camp go to http://www.utahscouts.org/openrosters/vieworgpagelink.asp?orgkey=290&linkkey=33436. Where the programs are explained. Have a great month and hope to see you at Pack Meeting.

A class B uniform is a T-shirt which has a Cub Scout emblem. If you have one from the past that still fits, use it. Other wise you provide the t-shirt and we provide the emblem. Contact your Cubs Den Leader.

Another thing that will be fun at day camp is the chance to duel with staff members (adult staff too). No, we won't be doing it with weapons but rather knots. Each of the staff members will have ropes (in their holsters) ready to duel. A youth can challenge a staff member to a duel using 1 of 4 knots:

  • Overhand
  • Slip
  • Square
  • Bowline
If you win the duel you will be given a ticket you can turn in at the trading post for a piece of candy. So practice those knots!! Come to camp ready to challenge a member of the staff to a showdown. It's going to be fun!!

March Calendar

Happy St. Patrick's Day.  My Mom's people were Irish so this is a special day for me!
Round Table: for Cub Scout Leaders will be Thurs. March 8, 2012, at 7:00 PM at our Stake Center on the corner of 300 N and 100 E.

Pack Meeting, Wed., March 21s, at 6:30 PM at our Church.  Bring the whole family, including little brothers and sisters, and those big brothers and sisters who can come.  Our theme is "Litter to Glitter" and we will be doing "Genius Kits", so come prepared to be creative.

Just a reminder to come to Pack Meeting a little early so that everyone can get an "On time " ticket for the treat drawing, and your cub can pick up his beads for his Dingle Dangle.  Remember that once he has 18 beads he can turn them in to me for a neckerchief slide.  Theme beads (something that represents that months theme) do not count in the bead total.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

P.S.  I am getting ready to register boys for day camp.  I need to know which would be better, June or July?
