November Pack Meeting

Thanks to all those who attended November's Pack Meeting. We had a really great time. The boys made, hats, boats, trees, and swords, all using news paper. Also, after looking at the Pack Budget, we purchased a Pinewood Derby Car Kit for each boy who will be in the Pack for January's Pack Meeting. If your son doesn't have his yet, contact your son's Den Leader to get his. Sorry no pictures. Can't do what I need to do and take pictures. We awarded 2 Bobcats, 2 Bears and a Webelos. Keep up the Good Work everyone.

October Pack Meeting

We had a GRRRRREEAAT! Pack Meeting this month! We had 3 rank advancements 1 Bobcat, 1 Wolf and 1 Bear. We had one Cub receive his Religious Knot. We welcomed 3 new Cubs into the Pack and then we had a Lady who's son is in our Pack, teach the Cubs and their brothers and sisters how to do some simple gymnastics. What fun we had!!
Just for your info. I have had a friend who had a blog stalker, do and say unfriendly things about their blog and the little people in their bog. For that reason, I am not putting names to the pictures on this blog, from this point on. I want to protect our Cubs and their families. Those who belong to our pack will know who are in the pictures. Others can just enjoy the pictures without names.

October Calendar

Here are the dates and activities for our Pack in October:

Thursday, Oct. 14, 7:00 PM at the Stake Center, Round Table for the Cub Scout Leaders.

Thursday, October 21, 7:00 PM in the Cultural Hall, Pack Meeting. Theme,"Under the Big Top". We will be doing some simple tumbling like the Acrobats and Clowns do. Come and join the fun!

Advance warning: Tuesday, January 18, 2011 will be our Pinewood Derby. We plan it for this time of the year so that the extra free time of the Christmas Break can be used by the boys to work on their cars. When you purchase your car kit, remember to buy extra weights which will get your Cubs car up to the required 5 oz.

As in years past, we will have a OPEN class for Dad, Moms, brothers and sisters and anyone else who would like to build a car and race it. Please let the your Cub build his own car (with a little help), and if you just can't keep your hands off his car, create your own car for the OPEN class. Everyone in the Ward is invited to to build a car and race it in the OPEN Class.

We know times are tough for a lot of families. If you can not afford the Pinewood Derby kit ($5.00) for your Cub to make a car, please contact me or your Cubs Den Leader and a Pinewood Derby kit will be provided. Please don't allow your Cub to fail to participate because of financial challenges. We would love to help. (I am sorry, but we can not provide a car for every member of your family.)

Septmeber Pack Metting

We had a good meeting this last Thursday. Problem is that I can't do what I need to do and take pictures too. So no pictures again this month. If anyone would like to volunteer to be the Pack Photographer, you can use my camera and I will use the pictures you take to put on this blog. We had 6 boys come this month. Many less than last month. I hoping with Soccer being over by the end of this month, we will get back up to our great summer numbers.

We again earned the Summer Time Pack award for the pack, and we had 9 boys o earned the Summer Time Pack Award for attending all 3 Pack Meeting during the summer.

Michael earned two Activity Pins and Neal earned one activity pin and all the Wolves earned the Bicycling Belt Loop. Robert was graduated from Cubs to the New Scouts. We have a new Cub Bevin and we want to welcome him!

Cub Master took a children on a "Cub Scout Investigation" while we help the parents meeting.

After Pack Meeting we showed the Youth Protection Video, "It Happened to Me". It is available to those who still want to view it with their families. Just contact me or go to the link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2857416314137441269#

September Calendar

Our Calendar for September:

September 9, 2010, Round Table for the Leaders. 7:00 PM at the Stake Center.

September 16, 2010, Pack Meeting, 7:00 PM at the Ward Building. Pack Meeting is for the Cub Scout and his Family (Parents and younger siblings). Part of this Pack Meeting is the Parents Meeting. We will let the Parents know what is happening and what we will be doing in our Dens and Pack this coming Cub Scouting year (Sept 2010- Aug. 2011).

After Pack Meeting we will be showing the child protection DVD called "It Happened To Me", created by the BSA and endorsed by the LDS Church. This DVD lasts 26 minutes. We will not allow a child to view this DVD without a parent/guardian in attendance with them. We have been informed that we are not to answer any questions asked by any child (other than our own children). That is the responsibility of the parent/guardian of each child. This DVD could be a great spring board for a child safety discussion in your family We have one copy of this DVD and we will allow a 24 hour check out of it for your private review. The only exception is the day of Pack Meeting.

Have a great Month and Happy Scouting.

August Pack Meeting

Pack Meeting was lots of fun. Good food, good games great Cubs earning great awards. The only thing I forgot was my camera. So no pictures, sorry. Robert and Andrew received their Arrow of Light rank. Neal received his Bear and Jacob received his Wolf. Four very active wonderful young men. I feel bad about no pictures. I will do better next time.

September's Pack Meeting has a Parent's Meeting attached to it. Also, we will be showing the Youth Protection Video after Pack Meeting. We will not show the video to any child without a parent/guardian in attendance with them. If the kids have questions, we want the kids to ask their Parent/guardian rather than us. That way, you as a parent have more control over what answers are given and how they are given to the children.

I have watched this DVD and it is very well done. It will help a child recognize the rules that can protect them from bad situations. If you would like to preview the DVD or show it to your children on your own, we have a 24 hour check out, just contact me.
